Description

Back to School season is a great opportunity to take action and work with your local schools to educate the school community about the serious nature of food allergies. This year, with your purchase, we will send a packet of posters, educational handouts, and resources to the school or community building of your choice to help educate and raise awareness about food allergies. This is a simple way you can provide your school with resources and make a difference!

This packet contains materials targeted to a middle or high school, including the following materials to help inform adults and teens about food allergies:

  • Two “Recognize and Respond to Anaphylaxis” posters that show the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and list steps for what to do in an anaphylaxis emergency.
  • A sample copy of a “Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Emergency Care Plan.” This document outlines recommended treatment in case of an allergic reaction and should be on file for every student with food allergies.
  • A "Teal Pumpkin Project" poster to spread awareness for the Teal Pumpkin Project promoting safety, inclusion and respect of individuals managing food allergies this Halloween.
  • A "Food Allergies: React with Respect" poster that encourages others to "react with respect" when they hear someone has a food allergy.
  • “Resources for Teens” cards that outlines some of the events and opportunities that FARE provides for teens, including support groups, volunteer positions, and fundraisers that can be handed out to any interested teen.
  • A “Prospective Student’s Guide”for students preparing to apply for and/or attend college that provides tips for choosing a school and managing food allergies on campus.
  • A Teen Summit flyer that promotes the upcoming conference from Nov. 11-13, 2016 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
We will also include a letter in the package addressed to the school leader from FARE's Senior Vice President of Education and Advocacy, Scott Riccio. This letter informs the school that a member of their school community donated the package and provides information about the resources the package contains. The letter and resources in the packet emphasize the importance of safety and inclusion for children with food allergies during the school year.

Help us bring FARE resources to schools across the country, starting with your own!

Please enter the school's contact information in the "Shipping Information" section when you check out, with your information in the "Billing Information" section. If you would like us to inform the school that you sent the package, please indicate as such in the "Order Comments" field, or notify the school on your own prior to the package arriving.
